Mamuto AB is more than a coffee—it’s the result of two lifelong partnerships coming together. George Howell, the godfather of specialty coffee, has sourced Mamuto from the Mathagu family in Kenya since 2006.
First planted by the late Walter Mathagu, Mamuto helped put Kirinyaga on the map. Today, his sons carry on that legacy on their 21-acre farm beneath Mt. Kenya, where SL-28 cherries thrive in rich red soil. George Howell remains the only roaster of Mamuto, drawn year after year to its singular profile of blackberry, plum, and cherry.
