The Founding Story of Cometeer
Great coffee has always been easy to find and hard to repeat. You can visit world-class cafes, buy exceptional beans, and support incredible roasters. At home, however, that same coffee rarely lives up to its potential. Brewing demands time, precision, and equipment, and even then the results can be inconsistent.
The founding story of Cometeer begins with a simple belief. Coffee should taste as good at home as it does at the best cafes in the world.
The Problem With Fresh Coffee
Coffee flavor is fleeting. Once coffee is brewed, its most delicate aromas begin to disappear within minutes. Oxygen, heat, and time work together to flatten complexity and mute sweetness. Even expertly brewed coffee has a narrow window where it truly shines.
Most convenience solutions ignored this reality. Pods sacrificed freshness. Ready-to-drink coffee traded nuance for shelf stability. Instant coffee largely abandoned the standards of specialty altogether.
We set out to solve the actual problem instead of working around it.
Where Engineering Meets Specialty Coffee
Cometeer was founded by a team spanning two very different worlds. One side brought deep experience in specialty coffee: sourcing remarkable lots, roasting with precision, and understanding what makes a coffee extraordinary. The other side brought advanced engineering expertise rooted in precision, consistency, and systems design.
Together, we asked a radical question. What if coffee could be brewed perfectly once and then preserved at its absolute peak?
That question became the foundation for everything we do.
Brewing Coffee at Peak Flavor
The Cometeer process begins the same way great coffee always does: at origin. We source world-class coffees through direct relationships with producers and trusted partners, selecting lots for clarity, sweetness, and character. The coffees are roasted with intention to highlight their inherent qualities, whether that means a bright Ethiopian natural or a balanced washed Colombian.
Each coffee is then precision brewed using our custom-built extraction system, designed to maximize flavor clarity, sweetness, and balance. Every variable is controlled, from grind size to water chemistry to temperature stability, so the cup expresses exactly what the roaster intended.
The difference happens immediately after brewing. Instead of serving the coffee hot and watching it degrade, we flash-freeze it within seconds. This rapid freezing halts oxidation and dramatically slows the chemical reactions that cause aroma loss and staling. Volatile aromatic compounds, which would normally dissipate into the air, are preserved in place.
Freezing coffee is not the shortcut. It is the breakthrough.

Why Frozen Coffee Works
Freezing dramatically slows the chemical reactions that cause coffee to stale. When done correctly, it preserves the volatile aroma compounds responsible for florals, fruit notes, and sweetness that are otherwise lost almost immediately after brewing. The result is brewed coffee that stays vibrant for months, not minutes.
It is important to clarify what Cometeer is not.
This is not concentrate in the traditional sense, where water is removed to create a syrupy extract. This is not freeze-dried coffee, where brewed coffee is dehydrated and later reconstituted. Both of those methods involve removing water, which can strip away delicate aromatics and alter flavor structure.
We never remove water from our coffee. Each capsule contains fully brewed coffee at a high strength, approximately 13.5 percent total dissolved solids. For context, traditional drip coffee is typically around 1.3 to 1.5 percent TDS, while espresso averages 8 to 10 percent. Because we brew at high strength without concentrating or dehydrating, the integrity of the flavor remains intact.
When you melt a capsule into hot water, pour it over ice, or dilute it for an espresso-style drink, you are simply bringing that coffee back to its ideal drinking strength. Nothing added. Nothing taken away.
Partnering With the World’s Best Roasters
From the beginning, we built Cometeer as a platform for exceptional coffee. We partnered with some of the world’s most respected roasters and gave them a new way to showcase their coffees without sacrificing quality.
These partnerships allow coffee lovers to explore a wide range of origins, processing methods, and roast styles, all preserved at peak flavor. A delicate washed Ethiopian can remain floral and tea-like. A fruit-forward natural can stay expressive and sweet. A chocolatey Latin American blend can maintain depth and balance.
At the same time, producers and roasters remain at the center of the story. By working directly with partners at origin and roasting with transparency, we ensure that quality and equity travel together.

The Future of Coffee at Home
The founding story of Cometeer is not about convenience for convenience’s sake. It is about respect for coffee. It is about honoring the work of farmers, producers, roasters, and brewers by delivering coffee exactly as it was meant to taste.
By combining specialty coffee expertise with advanced freezing technology, we created an entirely new way to experience coffee at home. It is coffee without compromise, ready whenever you are.
And that simple belief still guides us today: the best cup of your life should not depend on your grinder, your kettle, or your barista skills. It should be waiting in your freezer.
